Goal-Congruent Default Network Activity Facilitates Cognitive Control

Abstract: Substantial neuroimaging evidence suggests that spontaneous engagement of the default network impairs performance on tasks requiring executive control. We investigated whether this impairment depends on the congruence between executive control demands and internal mentation.
