Glycine–nitrate synthesis of Sr doped La2Zr2O7pyrochlore powder

Abstract: Materials with A 2 B 2 O 7 (pyrochlore) structure have received significant attention for their applications as new protonic conductors and materials used in electronic devices. One of the unique synthesis routes for La 2 Zr 2 O 7 (pyrochlore) powders is the glycine-nitrate combustion method, which shows superior properties of the synthesised powder using glycine as a complexing agent. The Sr doped La 2 Zr 2 O 7 powders in pure pyrochlore structure were produced using this approach. Selected characteristics of… Show more

“…The most common being the solid-state reaction route method of mixing the respective metal oxides [18]. In addition wet chemical methods like sol-gel [19], co-precipation [20], hydrothermal [21], solvothermal [22], combustion synthesis [23] and Pechini method [24] have been used to prepare this particular compound. In case of the samples prepared through solid state reaction route suffer from non-homogeneity, abnormal grain growth, and poor sintering behavior due to the sub-micrometer size of the final product.…”

“…33 2) and ( 5)), and this helps to reduce the chance of Li 2 CO 3 evaporation at the following high-temperature stage. This low-temperature dwell shall not coarsen the formed La 2 Zr 2 O 7 grains 48,49 to retard the formation of garnets. For the formation of garnets (reaction (4) and ( 6)), the particular temperature with the highest producing rate is indicated in Fig.…”

“…The major advantages of the combustion process are: improvement in processing time, energy saving, and the high sintering activity of the combustion products. In this method, nitrate is the common raw material, and carbohydrazide [79], urea [79][80][81], glycine [41,80,82,83], and ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) [41] or two of them are used as fuels. [44] powders were synthesized by combustion method.…”
