Glycerol and Antimicrobial Peptide-Modified Natural Latex for Bacteriostasis of Skin Wounds

Abstract: This work aimed to develop a glycerol antimicrobial peptide natural latex film (NRL-GI-AMP film) for the treatment of skin wound infections. The contents of this work mainly include investigating the effect of adding glycerol (GI) and an antimicrobial peptide (AMP) on the physical and chemical properties of natural latex (NRL) and analyzing the cytocompatibility, bacteriostatic activity, and infected wound healing promotion of the NRL-GI-AMP film. The results showed that the addition of GI resulted in more por… Show more

“…However, the CaCO 3 powder would aggregate on the surface of carbon steel and become viscous during the experiment. 54−56 The aggregation CaCO 3 would adsorb on the carbon steel surface, 54,57 and its blocking effect for the ions would also be enhanced. Compared to the effect of pH variation, the hindrance of CaCO 3 might play a major role in the corrosion process, resulting in a slightly positive increase in the corrosion potential.…”

“…A sample (5 μL, 0.5 g of composite film was soaked in 5 mL of PBS solution for 24 h) of the supernatant in which the composite film had been soaked for 24 h was placed in the center of the filter paper. After 14 h of incubation at 37 °C, the diameter of the zone of inhibition was measured [2] …”

“…S. aureus (200 μL of a 10 5 CFU/mL suspension) was inoculated into the wound. After inoculation, the wound was treated with SA/SS, SA/SS/GI, or SA/SS/GI/PSP@AgNP (PSP@AgNP content: 45.7 μg/g) composite films or with PBS [2] . Images of the wound were taken every 2 d.…”
