GLSMs for non-Kähler geometries

Abstract: We identify a simple mechanism by which H-flux satisfying the modified Bianchi identity arises in garden-variety (0, 2) gauged linear sigma models. Taking suitable limits leads to effective gauged linear sigma models with Green-Schwarz anomaly cancellation. We test the quantumconsistency of a class of such effective theories by constructing an off-shell superconformal algebra, identifying unexpected topological constraints on the existence of this algebra and providing evidence that these models run to good CF… Show more

“…H eavy polar compounds, like asphaltenes, are responsible for many of the undesirable behaviours of crude oil. [1,2] These undesirable behaviours are more drastic in heavy oil and bitumen due to the existence of higher percentages of heavy polar compounds in their matrix. [3] Actually, the presence of unstable polar heavy hydrocarbons in the oil matrix would negatively influence the entire production chain, starting from the well where they can reduce oil recovery and consequently decrease the productivity index by changing reservoir wettability, rock pore plugging, and deposition of asphaltenes within wells.…”

“…[10,11,[23][24][25][26][27][28] Thus, making this type of energy resource a better feedstock for refining and consequently reducing emissions. [1,6,22,29] This could be accomplished by separating the asphaltenes from oil through adsorbing them onto adsorbentcatalyst nanoparticles, which can subsequently promote the subsequent treatment process (e.g. thermo-oxidative decomposition, steam gasification, hydroprocessing, thermal cracking, etc.)…”

“…The result is that such a gauge theory may a priori correspond to several distinct SCFTs, labelled by the choice of branch. 6 In addition, there are also a number of interesting examples of (2, 2) and (0, 2) abelian gauge theories with dynamical Fayet-Iliopoulos and θ-angle terms, for instance references [69][70][71][72][73][74].…”

“…[2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10] and references therein) to new developments in Calabi-Yau compactifications, including realizations of non-complete-intersection target spaces [11,12,13,14,15], non-birational phases [11,12,15,16,17,18,19,20] (leading to modern conjectures that all phases of GLSM's are related by a new notion known as "homological projective duality" [17,18,19,20,21,22,23]), nonperturbative realizations of geometry [11,12,15,16,24,25,26], realizations of noncommutative resolutions [12,16,25,26], and localization techniques [27,28]. Those localization techniques have been applied to deduce new methods for computing Gromov-Witten invariants [24,29], computations of elliptic genera directly in GLSM's [30,31,…”
