Glomerulonefrite aguda após infecção de vias aéreas superiores ou pele: análise descritiva de 82 pacientes entre 14 e 64 anos de idade

Abstract: Introduction: Acute glomerulonephritis (AGN) after infection of the upper airways or skin is a kidney disease usually caused by streptococcal nephritogenic strains and may present with sudden onset of gross hematuria, hypertension, edema and, occasionally, acute renal failure, is common in childhood and little incident in adults and younger individuals. Objective: To analyze, in a descriptive way, data from the initial presentation of GNA after infection of the upper airways or skin in patients over 14 years o… Show more

“…Our study, like others, showed edema, hematuria, hypertension and low complement level in significant number of patients. 7,[12][13][14] The low level of C 3 has been found to be one of the reliable indicators of PIGN. Most of our patients had significantly decreased C 3 level.…”

“…Among their 102 infection related glomerulonephritis cases 56 (54.9%) were male and 46(45.09%) were female. Study conducted by Murmu and associates and Marques and associates [14,15] and Dhanapriya and associated [16] . Among the study population in 36.60% cases site of infection was unknown.…”

“…Considering the analysis of the kidneys in the histopathology examination all groups, it was observed intraglomerular congestion associated with bacterial colonization, a common aspect of infectious glomerulonephritis. Among some factors related to the onset of glomerulonephritis, the deposition of immunoglobulin G (IgG) or immune complexes due to microbial infection may be responsible to the renal failure, since activation of complement and generation of C5a may attract neutrophils to the glomeruli by chemotaxis, and thus prevent the proper function of the nephron (Marques et al 2010). This was more clearly observed in the group inoculated with BC01 PVL + , which also presented the highest counts in the kidney samples (10 7 CFU).…”
