Global Research on Carbon Emissions: A Scientometric Review

Abstract: Greenhouse gases such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and carbon dioxide have been recognized as the prime cause of global climate change, which has received significant global attention. Among these gases, carbon dioxide is considered as the prominent gas which motivated researchers to explore carbon reduction and mitigation strategies. Research work on this domain expands from carbon emission reporting to identifying and implementing carbon mitigation and reduction strategies. A comprehensive study to m… Show more

“…Over the years, the atmosphere, seas, and oceans have stored billion of tons of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) in the process of establishing the carbon cycle [2], but the high demand for energy has led to the consumption of fossil fuels on a very large scale. As a result, high levels of greenhouse gases such as CO 2 are produced in the environment, leading to global warming [3][4][5][6]. The current high level of CO 2 upsets the natural balance of the solar system on Earth.…”

“…Method of modeling and GIS amplification for the forest carbon sequestration has been developing based on estimating a large scale, giving fast results but requiring advanced equipment, technology, and qualifications of human resources (Wilson, 2010;Vu et al, 2014;Abeydeera et al,2019). Besides, this method has average deviation compared with the destrutive method is 13% (Green et al, 1997).…”

“…In the last two decades, numerous cities face serious problems of rapid urbanization [1,2], energy consumption [3][4][5][6][7], and climate change [8,9]. It is estimated more than 70% of people will reside in the built environment by 2050.…”
