Global Pesticide Market: Size, Trends, Forecasts

Abstract: Worldwide pesticides are used by farmers for growing more food on less land by protecting crops from pests, diseases and weeds as well as raising productivity per hectare. Also, pesticides enable farmers to produce safe, quality foods at affordable prices. Therefore, the market for agricultural pesticides is anticipated to rise by $ 26.23 billion between 2021 and 2025. Pesticide residues can be discovered in a wide range of common foods and drinks, such as prepared meals, water, wine, fruit juices, snacks, and… Show more

“…Many crops are lost to infections every year, but losses have decreased because of the development of synthetic fungicides. Today's synthetic fungicides do, however, come with drawbacks, including high acquisition and production costs, persistence in soil, pathogen resistance, health and environmental effects, financial loss to organic producers due to pathogen migration, destruction of infected crops, disposal of expired products, and disposal of leftover fungicides and conventional tank stocks, which can harm organic farms or the public [ 52 ] ( Figure 2 ). Several fungicides do not decompose when applied to soil for agricultural purposes.…”

“…While seeds and fertilizers take precedence, plant protection products play a crucial role in safeguarding productivity amid Indonesia's distinct geographical conditions (Joko et al 2020;Istriningsih et al 2022). They play a vital role in preserving yield quality and quantity by shielding plants from pests and diseases (Sălceanu et al 2023). Global pesticide use reached 3.54 million tons of active ingredient in 2021, marking a 4% increase from 2020 and a 50% surge since 1990, as reported by FAO (2023).…”

“…Yield reductions due to infections by fungi and FLO result in a global food crisis and a massive economic loss estimated at over $100 billion 2 4 . Therefore, management of such plant diseases is necessary and fungicides have played a vital role in controlling the growth and survival of plant pathogenic fungi and FLO 1 , 2 , 4 , 5 . The global agricultural chemical pesticide market is anticipated to reach 122.1 billion in 2031 with an annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.5% 5 .…”
