History records that sport has become an important part of Muslim civilization, but it is covered by the notion that the development of sports only originates from the civilization of the Western world. The danger that may arise from this assumption is that it creates superiority in the character and culture of European nations, simultaneously causing inferiority to the character of other nations, especially Muslims. Sports in Islam is synonymous with training the body, mind and spirit. Indonesia as a country with the largest number of Muslims in the world, of course, Islamic culture is thick in everyday life, including in the activity of sports. The purpose of this article is to explore the culture of the Islamic community in Indonesia in relation to sports. This article uses a qualitative descriptive method to support the achievement of the objectives of this article.

El objetivo del presente artículo es evidenciar las similitudes y diferencias entre la historiografía del deporte en Francia y Brasil, tomando como base el libro “Histoire du sport”, del historiador del deporte francés Thierry Terret. La obra realiza un análisis de la historiografía del deporte francesa, posibilitando un diálogo relacional entre el contexto brasileño y el francés. Como conclusión, el artículo indica que, a pesar de muchas proximidades entre las dos realidades, existen algunos distanciamientos entre los dos contextos, principalmente por las lógicas propias que el deporte tomó en cada una de estas naciones.

RESUMO O objetivo deste artigo é analisar a esportivização do remo na cidade de São Paulo. O período recortado é aquele em que o remo foi praticado prioritariamente no rio Tietê. Parte-se da hipótese de que os clubes de regatas e as federações foram elementos fundamentais na transformação do remo na cidade. A análise das fontes mostra que paulatinamente os torneios ganharam contornos mais competitivos e regulamentados. Em meio a estes processos, o rio Tietê, com suas particularidades geográficas, configurava-se como um grande impedimento à esportivização do remo. Conclui-se que ao mesmo tempo em que as práticas ganhavam características mais esportivizadas, semelhantes àquelas internacionalmente instituídas, elas esbarravam nas conjunturas locais, expressas pela geografia do rio Tietê.
