Global Perspectives in Teacher Preparation

Abstract: This chapter introduces a theoretical model of preparing globally competent educators based on examining preservice educators' understanding of global perspectives in Finland and Japan. Similarities and differences from educators in both countries signify the importance of recognizing the historical, sociocultural, and educational traditions in preparing globally competent teachers.
