Global, diffuse and direct solar radiation at the surface in the city of Rio de Janeiro: Observational characterization and empirical modeling

Abstract: The city of Rio de Janeiro and others 18 cities compose the Metropolitan Area of Rio de Janeiro. The main objective of this work is to characterize observationally the diurnal and seasonal evolution of the solar radiation components in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The measurements of global and diffuse solar radiation and standard meteorological variables at the surface have been carried out regularly at the Geoscience Institute of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro since October of 2011. The microclimatic co… Show more

“…a través de un análisis estadístico de una base de datos continua y a largo plazo de mediciones de radiación solar (Lillo-bravo & Ramı, 2016). Todos los componentes de radiación solar presentan un ciclo diurno bien definido con un máximo al mediodía, las estimaciones de la radiación solar directa y global indican un gran potencial disponible para la energía solar en la superficie, especialmente en verano (Marques Filho et al, 2016).…”

“…A large fraction of the studies dealing with solar radiation published during recent years have considered models of solar radiation (e.g., Quej et al ., 2016; Yao et al ., 2017; Jamil and Siddiqui, 2018; Antonopoulos et al ., 2019; Cao et al ., 2020), often focusing on the application of solar radiation calculations and forecasting with regard to photovoltaic (PV) power plants (e.g., Ghofrani et al ., 2016; Bouzgou and Gueymard, 2017; Eseye et al ., 2018; Srivastava et al ., 2019; Das, 2020). The global, direct, and diffuse radiation are commonly measured in the field (Marques Filho et al ., 2016; Gairaa et al ., 2017; Othman et al ., 2018; Chamorro et al ., 2020; Mohammad et al ., 2020). PAR is often measured in connection with its absorption by plants and transmittance through the canopy (Green et al ., 1995; Roujean, 1999; Gurrea‐Ysasi et al ., 2018; Gitelson et al ., 2019).…”

“…Comparative technique was taken once by (Li et al, 2012b;Safaripour and Mehrabian, 2011), administrative body projected vi new models supported the cruel values of sun based radiation obtained out of 10 models accessible within the writing to assess the monthly average daily radiation for Erzurum, Turkey. Compared the appliance the appliance radiation models on Azorean region for the assessment of the potential of other energy technologies in (Marques Filho et al, 2016;Despotovic et al, 2016). Counseled pair of correlations for estimation of diffuse radiation, projected models were compared with eight existing models from literature (Khorasanizadeh et al, 2014).…”
