Abstract: Gliosarcoma exhibits some characteristic MR features. It should be included in the differential diagnosis of any tumor that appears to be intraaxial but abuts a dural surface and is much less hypointense on T2-weighted images than other glial neoplasms.

“…GSC is a rare primary high-grade primary brain neoplasm which characteristically abuts a dural surface and can demonstrate both extracranial extension and extracranial metastases. 10,[13][14][15] Both imaging findings and genetic findings overlap with GBM. While separate imaging and histologic case series have been performed, a large series correlating these findings has never been reported.…”

“…Additional variation is recognized in the mesenchymal component. 101,102 Gliosarcoma should be included in the differential diagnosis of any tumor that appears to be intra-axial but abuts a dural surface and shows imaging characteristics similar to gray matter on T2-weighted images. Fibrosarcoma, with smooth and striated muscle sarcoma, as well as bone or cartilaginous sarcoma, may also be found.…”
