Glass formation in the V2O5‐MoO3‐ZnO system

Abstract: Glass formation region in the V2O5‐MoO3‐ZnO system was determined using low cooling rates (102 K/s). The glasses were obtained in the central part of the system from compositions containing 10‐65 mol% V2O5, 10‐65 mol% MoO3 and 10‐50 mol% ZnO. The amorphous and crystalline phases were characterized by x‐ray diffraction (XRD), differential thermal analysis (DTA) and infra‐red spectroscopy (IR). According to DTA data the glass compositions with molar ratio of the components near to 1:1:1 are more stable against c… Show more

“…26 The stretching vibrations of V-O-V bridges are at 636 and 580 cm À1 . 27 The spectra of the LDH-MoO 4 2À film show a band of Mo-O stretching vibration in MoO 4 2À tetrahedrons at 742-901 cm À1 . 28,29 In the spectra of the LDH-MBT film, the bands at 1587, 1374, and 755 cm À1 are ascribed, respectively, to the C=C, C=N, and C-S symmetric stretchings of the benzene ring, while the bands at both 1086 and 1018 cm À1 are attributed to the asymmetric stretchings of the benzene ring.…”

“…5),6) Molybdate glasses also have characteristics that make them candidates for practical applications such as amorphous semiconductors and solid electrolytes. 7) By adding alkali oxides, molybdate glasses with ultra-low thermal properties are obtained, as shown in, for example, In the study by Vaghese, There is, however, a practical limit on sealing applications because of their poor chemical durability. 8) We reproduced Varghese's experiments and produced alkali molybdate glass, finding that its surface reacts with atmospheric water vapor.…”

“…In recent years, transition metal ion (TMI) doped glasses and glass-nanocomposites are prime interests to the scientists and technologists due to their applications in various fields. [1][2][3] Electrical conduction and structural behavior of them have been described in different literatures. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7] Electron or small polaron hopping process in vanadate glassy system [7] is mainly caused by the formation of vanadium-oxygen polyhedral surrounded by one or more ions.…”
