Water is one of the most important requirements in daily life, which represents the largest part of the Earth. As a result of the economic, industrial and social development in most countries led to increased pollution in water resources. It is, therefore, necessary to monitor water quality continuously to prevent a future catastrophe that adversely affects the quality and quantity of water wealth. Geographic Information System (GIS) is used in various fields to monitor, analyze data collected from different geographical locations. Integration of GIS and other technologies has become an indispensable tool. This gives us direct control over solution expansion, cost reduction, powerful complex case analysis as well as increased accuracy and efficiency of geospatial data. In recent years, many combinations of GIS with different technologies such as remote sensing, wireless sensor networks, internet of things approaches have been proposed due to the rapid progress of technology development in many applications. However, in last several years, there is no survey paper has been published about water quality using the integration of GIS and other technologies. Therefore, this paper investigates the status of continuous search in the field of GIS and its integration with other technologies (Remote Sensing, Internet of Things, Web, etc.) for water quality management and monitoring to maintain the water resources in a proper way. As conclusions, the integration of the GIS with these technologies is a powerful platform for analyzing and processing big data and mapping geographic remotely in less time, less cost, high speed and with more accurate details and in real time compared to traditional geographic information systems. The paper describes the possibilities and results of the application of aerial photography and photogrammetry technologies in the Latvian state border maintenance processes (Ratkevics et al, 2017a) and the practice of using GIS technologies (McHaffie et al, 2018) in these works, to observe the obligations of international agreements. The monitoring of the state border of Latvia resulted in considerable practical and theoretical experience. Photogrammetric technologies, together with GIS capabilities, offer significant reductions in monitoring of the state border costs and time surveying control works (Ratkevics et al, 2017b). In Research are used advantage, which practiced in Latvia, if aerial photography is regularly organized. Describe possibilities of technologies of aerial photography-photogrammetric works for inspection and research works of terrain situation in the world are widely applied and developed already since the beginning of the previous century. These technologies at present in many cases (but not always) can replace also the classical geodetic and topographic surveying works, specially, when they shall be performed for considerable areas, this can be applied also to territories of state borders. As the tasks of monitoring of the state border of Latvia are prepared, photogrammetry specialists can from the existing photographs obtain information on technical condition of the borderline, border zone and elements of border fastening. By use of GIS technologies, the effectivity of these activities obtains additional possibilities for correct spatial documenting, measuring, mapping and also modelling of all above mentioned activities and allows performance of this all in short deadlines.

Derivation Method of Architectural Asset Value Enhancement Zones in South Korea

In June 2014, South Korea enacted a law to systematically preserve and utilize architectural assets to strengthen national competitiveness through the enhancement of architectural culture. An architectural asset value enhancement zone (AAVE) can be designated for an area in which a unique spatial environment has been created, centered on excellent architectural assets or in which architectural assets are densely concentrated. However, five years after the law was promulgated, while 14 local governments had completed basic investigations of architectural assets, only three had been designated as AAVE zones (as of March 2020). This is because the criteria for non-Hanok architectural assets are unclear, making it difficult to specify the scope of designation. This study aims to present and verify a methodology for deriving more effective AAVE zones. After establishing the criteria for architectural asset candidates, densely populated areas across the country were identified using GIS. Subsequently, a methodology was derived to classify candidate areas for the enhancement zone, based on the locations of these densely populated areas and designated/registered cultural heritage sites. The effectiveness of the methodology was reviewed through an actual area analysis, which indicated that the methodology is highly applicable to AAVE zones.
