Osteomas of the temporal bone outside the external auditory canal are relatively rare entities. Denia et al. 1 reviewed 53 such cases in the literature up to 1979 and added 8 cases of their own. The mastoid was the most common site of involvement followed by the squama, internal auditory canal, glenoid fossa, eustachian tube, petrous apex, and styloid process. In the English literature there have been 10 reports of osteoma arising from the middle ear, >9 most commonly from the promontory. Only two of these reports, by Milroy et at.6 and Ramadan, 9 describe an osteoma involving the incus and malleus, respectively. We present a second case of osteoma of the malleus.
