“…Both patients and doctors tend to introduce a long 'Verschleppungszeit' [6,8], Our patient had a squamous cell carcinoma which showed clinical and histological features of condyloma acuminatum. Despite repeated attempts we were unable to discover virus particles as described in condyloma acu minatum in electron micrographs of the edge of the lesion [3,11,13], According to O riel [12], malignant changes in condyloma acuminatum must be regarded as rare, whether they occur as local, destructive invasions (the 'giant condyloma' of Buschke-Loewenstein) or as a malignant metas tasizing tumour [1], For example, Siegel [16] described a case of malignant changes in condyloma acuminatum of the anus, while O riel and W himster [13] demonstrated virus particles in a carcinoma of the anus in situ.…”

“…Furthermore, Kats [7] and Balazs [8] reported that the histopathological findings obtained on GCA were similar to and may be identical with verrucous carcinoma, a welldifferentiated squamous cell carcinoma. In their histological observations, Davies [2] found 24 cases of GCA out of 100 cases of penile carcinoma, and pointed out the difficulties of pathological diagnosis. A scrutinized examination of all the tissues of the whole resected tumor is important in order to distinguish between the two types [1].…”

“…However, GCA is generally considered to be a benign tumor with no malignant histopathological findings like atypical cells or invasion of blood vessels [1]. The differential diagnosis between GCA and penile carcinoma, made by thorough histopathological examination of the whole specimen, is often a difficult task [2]. Furthermore, some types of GCA show malignant changes after repeated recurrence [3], making it difficult to predict the prognosis from the histology of the tumor and follow-up observation.…”
