“…The involvement of surrounding structures like splenic vein, 1,6 portal vein, 27,30 and superior mesenteric artery (SMA) 6,27 has been reported. Because of the benign nature of the tumor and positive response of radiotherapy on schwannoma, radiotherapy was attempted in 1 case of pancreatic schwannoma in which the tumor was encasing the portal vein confluence and SMA.…”

“…The most common reasons for nonenucleation were that it was difficult to separate tumors from the peritumor vessels or tissues, including the portal vein, superior mesenteric vessels, or normal pancreas, and the possibility of malignancy was not excluded. 1,[3][4][5][6]9,12,17 In conclusion, abdominal pain was not dependent on the size of the BSPH and was likely 1 of the earlier signs of the BSPHs. Abdominal US was not enough to detect the small schwannomas in the head of the pancreas.…”

“…On CT scan, the schwannoma with a predominantly Antoni A pattern usually shows a solid enhancing mass, whereas one with a prevalence of the Antoni B pattern often shows a cystic appearance. 3,22 Because air in the gastrointestinal tract influences the echo of US, and normal CT scans may miss a small lesion, we recommend the spiral CT with slide scan. Although US, CT, or magnetic resonance imaging could offer the location and size of the BSPH, the final diagnosis of schwannoma was made by a postoperative histologic examination.…”
