GHz series production short range radar for highly automated driving applications

Abstract

This paper describes the possibilities of automotive series production short range radar sensors in a vehicle environment for Highly Automated Driving. Four 24 GHz sensors in our test vehicle provide measurements for an occupancy grid based environmental perception approach. Two example scenarios show the usage of the short range radar data for landmark detection and for free space estimation in construction zones.
