Ghrelin, comprising 28 amino acids, was initially discovered as a hormone that promotes growth hormones. The original focus was on the effects of ghrelin on controlling hunger and satiation. As the research further develops, the research scope of ghrelin has expanded to a wide range of systems and diseases. Nevertheless, the specific mechanisms remain incompletely understood. In recent years, substantial studies have demonstrated that ghrelin has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiapoptotic, and other effects, which could affect the signaling pathways of various kinds of programmed cell death (PCD) in treating diseases. However, the regulatory mechanisms underlying the function of ghrelin in different kinds of PCD have not been thoroughly illuminated. This review describes the relationship between ghrelin and four kinds of PCD (apoptosis, necroptosis, autophagy, and pyroptosis) and then introduces the clinical applications based on the different features of ghrelin.

The role of ghrelin in normal anD paThological conDiTions shcherbak V. a., ishchenko n. a., shcherbak n. m., aksenova T. a. chita state medical academy, russian federationЦелью обзора является обобщение имеющейся в литературе (2017-2023 гг.) информации, посвящённой роли грелина (Г) в норме и патологии. Использованы базы данных PubMED, РИНЦ. По поисковым словам обнаружено 28536 публикаций. Грелин играет важную роль в регуляции обмена углеводов и липидов, его эффекты проявляются в центральной нервной системе, поджелудочной железе и жировой ткани. Первым открытым эффектом Г было стимулирование высвобождения гормона роста из передней доли гипофиза. В дальнейшем выявлено его влияние на углеводный и жировой обмен, а также противовоспалительный эффект. Уровень Г возрастает накануне приема пищи, а после насыщения -снижается. Г является антагонистом лептина, продуцируемого жировой тканью. Уровень Г повышается при нарушении пищевого поведения и синдроме Прадера -Вилли, при ожирении -снижается. Внимание врача к уровню Г и его рецептору может принести терапевтическую пользу людям с ожирением и нарушением углеводного и липидного обмена.
