Abstract:Aquifer contamination is one of the main environmental impacts caused by the inadequate disposal of solid wastes. This contamination occurs when the solid waste leachate reaches this environment. Groundwater affected by leachates presents several biogeochemical processes in time and space, which vary according to the characteristics of leachate and local hydrogeology. These processes induce the formation of different redox zones in the subsurface environment which, in turn, determine the behavior of several su… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
