“…The presence of Miocene marine sediments in the Lake Van region and in the neighbouring areas of Turkey and Iran (AL NAQIB, 1967;RICOU, 1976) is a consequence of an important marine ingression connecting the Mediterranean basin with the Indian Ocean and following the Eo-Oligocene emersion of the region.
