“…The names given in Greece and Albania to these thrust sheets vary, but we propose the following correlation from innermost (east and shallower) to outermost (west and deeper): Berati or Internal Ionian, Kurveleshi or Middle Ionian, and Ҫika or External Ionian (BP, 1971; IFP, 1966; Karakitsios & Rigakis, 2007; Mazzoli et al., 2022; Papanikolaou, 2021; Velaj, 2015b; Zelilidis et al., 2003, 2015). In Albania, another thrust sheet, the Sqepuri thrust sheet (Figure 8a), has been locally differentiated (Bare et al., 2001; Meço et al., 2000; Roure et al., 2004; Sadekaj et al., 1992; Sejdini et al., 1994; Velaj, 2001; Velaj et al., 1999; Xhomo et al., 2002). Due to its position and deep structure, we interpret the Sqepuri as an imbricate of the Kurveleshi (Middle Ionian) sheet.…”
