This brief presents new U-Pb SHRIMP (Sensitive High-Resolution Ion Microprobe) geochronology data on zircons and titanites dated from the gold-rich Kilo Terrane in the eastern Central Kibalian Superterrane, northeastern DRC. Out of 40 rock samples ( Table S1 ), only 36 samples produced zircons and titanites suitable for U-Pb SHRIMP dating ( Tables S2A - S2E ). Raw ion-microprobe SHRIMP analyses of specific zircon/titanite grain-spots returned U-Th-Pb compositions and radiogenic isotope ratios ( Tables S4 - S40 ), from which age dates ( Table 3 , Figs 8A-8HH and 13A-F) were derived. With the exception of Table 3 , all Tables are presented in the Supplementary Material. The new age dates in this Brief can be used in advancing understanding of the gold metallogeny and implications to exploration targeting for large to giant gold deposits in the Bomu-Kibalian Craton.

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to analyze the rationalities and strategies of developing mangrove forests as ecotourism and its impact on socio-economic transformation. Method: The research was conducted using exploratory qualitative methods with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and document studies. Interviews were conducted with representatives of local governments, tourism agencies, the village head, the local communities, mangrove tourism management groups, local traders, employees, and tourists. The data were analyzed with an interactive model using an inductive approach. Result and conclusion: Based on the analysis, two main rationalities were identified in developing protected mangrove ecotourism; economic potential and environmental conservation of mangroves. In addition, three strategies were carried out to transform protected mangroves into ecotourism; building community awareness, conducting good cooperation across sectors, and strengthening tourism development by making mayoral regulations. Finding implication: The mangrove ecotourism has an impact on collective awareness and encourages the community to preserve mangroves for their economic interests based on the principle of sustainable environmental conservation. Finally, this study confirms that economic rationalities and mangrove conservation as ecotourism objects encourage stakeholders to find sustainable strategies for managing ecotourism-protected mangroves to ensure the realization of a blue economy.

Petrographic Characterization of Geological Settings in the Locality of Mabuku in the Territory of Beni, DRC

The geology of the DRC has already been studied on regional plans, on the scale of a province or territory. But these studies are too synthetic and they do not consider the variations of petrographic facies that can occur at the scale of a locality or a village. Thus, to overcome this possibility, the present study aims to make a petrographic characterization of the rocks of the locality of Mabuku in the territory of Beni. To achieve this, we proceeded by a microscopic analysis of 10 field samples (selected on the basis of the variability of the petrographic characteristics of the rocks). Analyzes of these samples at the petrographic laboratory of the University of Nairobi in Kenya at the LPA and LPNA revealed that the lithology of the Mabuku locality consists of orthogneiss, schists, dolerite and diorite intrusions, quartzites , laterite and sandstones. However, there are four dominant formations. These are the orthogneiss found to the north; schist, dominant in the eastern part; doleritic intrusions in the northwest part; and the sandstones which are distributed along a SW-NE diagonal. Nevertheless, important gaps remain to be completed from the geochemical and metallogenic point of view in the locality of Mabuku.
