High-quality development of the economy is an important guarantee for economic and business sustainability, and the construction of transportation infrastructure is an important channel to achieving high-quality development. Thus, we take the opening of China’s high-speed railway (HSR) as a quasi-natural experiment and use the difference-in-difference model to explore the impact and mechanism of HSR on firms’ high-quality development. By using the total factor productivity of enterprises as the proxy for high-quality development, the empirical results show that: (1) the opening of the HSR can significantly promote high-quality development of enterprises; (2) the quality of information disclosure plays a mediating role in such relationships; and (3) the impact of HSR on enterprises’ high-quality development is more significant for enterprises that are located in cities with better business environments. Overall, this research indicates that local infrastructure construction is an important factor to achieve high-quality development of enterprises as well as economic sustainability that cannot be ignored, and this conclusion will be helpful for corporate managers in enhancing the quality of information disclosure, as well as for local governments to attach more importance to optimizing business environments to achieve high-quality development and economic sustainability.

Even though technological development is rapidly increasing in supply chains, logistics performance in any kind of organizations remains strongly related to a set of human-based skills and competencies. The aim of this article is to expose the design process and implementation of a web platform to develop collective intelligence in logistics for Latin American SMEs. Based on the case study method, it exposes the structure and processes used when programming the web-based platform to develop collective intelligence in logistics. This article presents conclusions that expand the panorama to develop this type de tools in Latin America. Indeed, since the region lacks a satisfactory critical mass of “world class” logistic skills, the IT platforms can play an interesting role for developing a “spot market” of collective intelligence in logistics. This is a first step to improve the value of logistics knowledge in the region, but also to stimulate the movement of logistics knowledge flux beyond the companies’ bounds. Similarly, potential future research lines are presented.

The effect of major customers' geographical distance on enterprise technology innovation: Evidence from China

Short‐distance major customers can capture information. Information is the key to bargaining. Therefore, short‐distance major customers undercut the price of innovation products. However, there is little research between major customers' distance and enterprise innovation. We find that short‐distance major customers are threats to enterprise innovation. IPDC and HSR weaken the relationship. Further research finds that the inhibitory effect of short‐distance major customers is more pronounced when the industry competition degree is high and enterprise market power is low. At distances of more than 1000 km, major customers are no longer threats. Distance is new to the literature about customer characteristics.
