GEOFOOD - Energy model of geothermalgreenhouse aquaponic systems, Part I, Model description and applications

“…More information on the reuse of residual heat from a geothermally heated greenhouse for RAS production can be found in the GEOFOOD reports by Boedijn, Baeza, et al, 2019a. Heating capacity was increased in February by adjusting the maximum heating temperature on the hot side of the heat exchanger from 35 to 45°C.…”

“…This adjustment underlines that the peak heat demand of a RAS facility is a key design parameter, especially when employing low-temperature heat. “…uilding on this circular concept, a predictive model was developed to design and assess geothermal quaponic systems consisting of a geothermal well, a greenhouse and a recirculating aquaculture ystem (RAS) (Boedijn, Baeza, et al, 2019a).…”

“…he model can calculate heat demand patterns for greenhouse-and aquaculture production, based on he requirements of the crop and fish species, system design and local climate. Figure 1 shows an xample of a simulated glasshouse growing tomato and a RAS that produces pike-perch, located in he Netherlands (Boedijn, Baeza, et al, 2019b).…”
