Desa Muara Madras berada di Kabupaten Merangin, Provinsi Jambi, Indonesia. Secara fisiografi lokasi penelitian ini berada pada zona perbukitan barisan yang merupakan punggungan dengan orientasi Barat Laut-Tenggara dan kemenerusan jalur cincin gunung api (ring of fire). Keberadaan manifestasi mata air panas membuktikan bahwa aktivitas geotermal terjadi di daerah tersebut. Secara geologi lokasi penelitian berada di selatan Komplek Gunung Api Masurai dengan batuan penyusun terdiri dari lava andesit hulusimpang, breksi andesit hulusimpang, dan breksi vulkanik kuarter. Terdapat struktur sesar berarah Barat Laut-Tenggara yang diperkirakan mengontrol aktivitas manifestasi. Hal ini menunjukkan keberadaan manifestasi air panas ini dikontrol oleh aktivitas vulkanik dan tektonik. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui karakteristik fisik dan kimia fluida mata air panas bumi. Hasil analisis fisik diperoleh temperatur permukaan sebesar 43º celcius, TDS 920 ppm, dan DHL 1696 µm/cm. Uji geokimia diperoleh parameter Ca2+: 34.18 mg/L, Mg2+: 0.7 mg/L, K+: 13.06 mg/L, Na+: 125.79 mg/L, Fe3+: 0.01 mg/L, Li+: 0.55 mg/L. Hasil uji ini menunjukkan bahwa mata air panas di Sungai Mantenang merupakan fluida air klorida sulfat dan dari ploting pada diagram segitiga anion Cl, HCO3, SO4 adalah mature water. Kesetimbangan reaksi dari analisis kation dari sampel fluida manifestasi panas bumi Sungai Mantenang diperoleh pada Partial Equilibrium. Dari hasil analisis geokimia ini dapat diprediksi temperatur fluida mata air panas di bawah permukaan dengan menggunakan analisis geotermometer, diperoleh perkiraan temperatur pada kondisi reservoir adalah 1720 celcius.

Geothermal manifestation on the Sungai Medang and Semurup, Kerinci Regency appear along the Sumatran Fault System. Geological setting as well as this are interesting things to understand from the linkage between of them. To know this process, it is necessary to understand the fault structure mechanism and the presence geothermal features manifestations. The aim of this research in addition to understanding the linkage between of them, which comprehend the fault mechanism of the fault structure, so as to know the role of the fault structure in the appearance of geothermal features manifestation. Geothermal manifestation in Sungai Medang has geothermal features manifestation surface including hot spring, hot pool, geyser dome, hydrothermal alteration rock, sinter silica, and carbonate sinter. The fault structure measured and analysis on the eastern part of Siulak Fault segment of the Sungai Medang was found to be a normal right slip fault, but western part of Siulak Fault segment on the Semurup which strike-slip fault and normal right slip fault. The existence of geothermal features manifestation surface in fault zone of Siulak Fault segment is evidence that, the role of faults is as a controlled by apeear geothermal manifestation. The fault structure mechanism is the result of dextral movement of Siulak Fault which forms a pull-apart basin. This basin is single fault-bend basin as one master fault of active segment. The fault regime stress analysis obtained direction compressional force is trending north-northwestern and south-southeastern. This regime stress is locally stress on Sungai Penuh Basin.

In the moment of Merangin Jambi Geo-park in sustainability UNESCO Global Geo-park. Therefore, it is necessary to socialize the current situation and development of geopark, through publications in the form of geohistory and storytelling at each geosite. One of those geosites is the Teluk Gedang Wood Fossil. The located in the Air Batu Village and Near Batang Merangin River. Taking data at the stage of geological survey on geological outcrop of Teluk Gedang Wood Fossil, and then important information from the public regarding the folklore that developed at the geological site. Geological data and analysis will be information geological characterized, such as rock type, stratigraphic succession, structural geology as deformation, tectonic story through global tectonic basement approach, and those get geohistory. The folklore obtained from public information will be deep information of unique of geological site. A integration of these two points of view to acquire storytelling concept. On the Teluk Gedang is the beginning of Mengkarang facies stratigraphy. It consists of sediment-volcanic rock, which are lacustrine facies and shallow marine facies of claystone and tuffaceous sandstone with Araucarioxylon, carbonifereous claystone, tuffaceous claystone, silstone, and tuffaceous sandstone with limestone with brachiopods and gastropods fossils intercalation. Araucarioxylon Wood Fossil is a uniqueness of this geological site, which has geometry about 2.6 m hight and 1.4 m wide diameter. This fossil has grown in sediment-volcanic rock, so it has a shape like a large backrest. According to folklore there, this geological site used to be a bathing place for the lost princess of the Air Batu village a long time ago. With the uniqueness of this geological site, it really meets the criteria as geoheritage with geohistory to build a narrative between geoheritage and folklore that produces a storytelling concept
