The Eséka Greenstone Belt (CRVE) is located in the Nyong Paleoproterozoic unit, Northern edge of the Congo craton, Cameroon. The petrographic, geochemical, and isotopic geochemistry (Sm-Nd) approach of this Nyong complex amphibolites, allowed to highlight three petrographic facies (plagioclastic amphibolites, melanocratic amphibolites and garnet amphibolites), with mineralogical assemblies more or less similar to Hornblende and plagioclase. Fifteen amphibolites samples distributed throughout the CRVE were collected and differentiated into three main facies (garnet, plagioclastic and melanocratic amphibolites). The thin sections were made at the Langfang Rock Detection Technology Services Ltd laboratory in China. The major elements were analysed by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) in South Africa. Isotope geochemical analyses were achieved at the University of Rennes in France. The analyses were carried out following the isotopic dilution method using a multicollector mass spectrometer by thermos-ionization of the Finnigam MAT 262 type to decipher the isotopic composition of samples. Garnet amphibolites are on average richer in silica (47.40 -52.58%) compared to plagioclastic and melanocratic amphibolites. The alkali content is low in melanocratic amphibolites, in particular for K2O (0.13 -0.14%). These metabasites have several common geochemical features such as: the relatively high contents of Y (22.03 -39 ppm), Zr (63.78 -481.99 ppm), Th (0.55 -12.37 ppm), the low content of Ta ( 0.33 -1.20 ppm); a high concentration of compatible elements (5.60%

is an area located in the southeastern part of the Bétaré Oya Gold district (Eastern Cameroon). Geochemical investigations on rare metals (TiO 2 , Th, Y, and rare-earth elements [REE]) were carried out on sample types (source rocks, unconsolidated fine-grained sediments, and concentrated sediments) using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), and scanning electron microscope equipped with EDAX spectrometer (SEM-EDS) methods. In this study, five layers of river terraces were selected (organic matter layer, clayey layer, fine sandy layer, coarse sandy layer, and gravel layer). One of them, the gravel layer, is mineralized. TiO 2 , Zr, and REE are more enriched in monzonites than in granites. Unconsolidated sediments derive mainly from the erosion of weathered materials developed on monzonites and granites. The mineral assemblage of fine-grained sediments from the gravel layer is muscovite, kaolinite, quartz, rutile, smectite, and others, and the average concentrations in Th, Zr, and Y are high. Fifty

The concentrations and distribution spectra of 14 stable rare earth elements (REE) were studied for surface waters ( n = 30) and sediments ( n = 30) of the tropical zone Mgoua watershed in southwest of Cameroon. Samples were analyzed using the inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) method. The ∑REE concentrations of the surface waters vary from 0.11 to 6.60 µg/L with an average value of 1.18 µg/L. This average is 150 times lower than the average values of the Post-Archean Australian Average Shale (PAAS). In the sediments, the concentrations range from 282.12 to 727.67 ppm with an average value of 550.05 ppm, making it 2.5 times higher than the PAAS. Rare earth spectra normalized to PAAS are spread out and show heavy rare earth enrichment; positive Eu anomalies; negative, low, or no Ce anomalies; and a gradual decrease in heavy earths in river and well waters and sediments, but are sawtooth with strong negative Ce anomalies in effluent waters and sediments. A low rare earth fractionation is noted in river and well waters [(La/Yb) N ~ 0.35–1.19], while it is high in effluent waters [(La/Yb) N ~ 0.42–56.99]; a slight depletion of rare earths in all environments [(La/Sm) N ~ 0.69–2.35], as well as a depletion of heavy rare earths [(Gd/Yb) N ~ 0.58–1.94]. In the sediments, the same characteristics are found with elemental ratio values differing slightly [(La/Yb) N ~ 1.15–1.99]; [(La/Sm)N ~ 0.75–1.36]; and [(Gd/Yb) N ~ 1.15–2.01]. This study shows that the Mgoua watershed does not have a high concentration of REE, although in the sediments they are well above the average PASS value while they are insignificant in the waters.
