“…Although a number of parameters, including the presence of 28,30-bisnorhopane and extremely strong predominance of C 29 steranes, distinguish the Assam oils from the oils from Myanmar reported here, there is a close compositional similarity between the oils from the Salin and Chindwin Basins and the Assam oils. The Assam oils are interpreted to have been generated from the Eocene Barail Formation (Goswami et al, 2005), which is of similar age to the presumed source rock of the Salin and Chindwin Basin oils.
