Geochemical and Pb-Sr-Nd isotopic compositions of granitoids from western Qinling belt: Constraints on basement nature and tectonic affinity

Abstract: Geochemical and Pb-Sr-Nd isotopic compositions of five Indosinian granitoid intrusions from the western Qinling belt provide insights into basementnature and tectonic affinity. The results show that the western Qinling granitoids incline towards basic in their bulk chemical composition. The granitoids belong to high-K to shoshonitic series with K 2 O/Na 2 O=1.04-1.86 and are dominantly metaluminous with A/CNK=0.90-1.05 (most samples have A/CNK of <1.0). They have similar trace elemental compositional patterns.… Show more

“…Pb isotopes are characterized by heavy nuclear mass and less difference of various isotopic masses, the isotopic composition unlikely been changed by external conditions, hence it has significant "fingerprint" character [65][66][67] . Because the present geological bodies are different in material sources, genetic mechanisms, formation environments and ages, the Pb isotopic compositions are various, either, which means the Pb isotope can be used as a credible tracer of material source [65] .…”

“…The major minerals of the monzonitic granite are [20] : quartz 20%-30%, plagioclase 30%-35%, K-feldspar 30%-35%, biotite 2%-6%. The granodiorite is mainly composed of: quartz 15%-20%, plagioclase 30%-45%, K-feldspar 15%-30%, biotite 3%-6%, hornblende 1%-3% [2] . The mineralization of the Wenquan Mo deposit is mainly developed in the porphyry-like biotite monzo-nitic granites and granitic porphyries ( Figure 1).…”
