Genotyping and Genetic Diversity Analysis of 47 Flowering Cherry (<I>Cerasus</i>) Germplasms

Abstract: In order to provide a theoretical basis for conservation and utilization of excellent flowering cherry germplasms, genetic diversity and genotype were analyzed based on single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) molecular markers. A total of 47 germplasms were sequenced using restriction site-associated DNA sequencing (RAD-Seq) method, and highly consistent SNP sites have been identified for genetic diversity analysis and genotyping. The RAxML program was used for phylogenetic tree construction, based on the maximum… Show more

“…Hybridization events among Cerasus taxa have been widely reported (Ohta et al, 2007;Shi et al, 2013;Kato et al, 2014;Baek et al, 2018). Especially, a recent analysis based on whole-genome re-sequencing data indicates that four potential inter-specific hybridization events have occurred among Cerasus taxa (Yan et al, 2020). Therefore, we inferred that the discordance and lack of phylogeographic signals might have resulted from potential multiple hybridization events within Cerasus.…”

“…In contrary to their report, the yield of AVTO lines in our study was low which was due to heavy rainfall and disease problem. Chapagain et al (2020a) found that the highest positive effect of marketable fruit per plant (r=0.99) on fruit yield per plant. Correlation analysis revealed that plant height, fruit weight and diameter were positively associated with fruit yield (Reddy et al, 2013;Chapagain et al, 2020a).…”
