Genotypic and environmental effects on pod wall proportion and pod wall specific weight in Lupinus angustifolius

Abstract: Fourteen winter-sown genotypes of Lupinus angustifolius L., comprising most of the Western Australian cultivars released since 1986, were studied over 2 years at 4 southern Chile locations. Pod wall proportion, pod wall specific weight, seed number per pod, mean seed weight, seed weight per pod, wall weight per pod, and mean pod weight were measured, separately sampling pods from the mainstem and pods from branches. The 2 pod positions differed significantly for all characteristics except wall weight per pod. … Show more

“…The mean PWP for L. albus reported here was 32.2%, and the mean for 14 genotypes of L. angustifolius measured in the same years and sites was 33.3%. On the other hand, the mean pod WSW for L. albus reported here was 24.8 mg/cm 2 ; considerably lower than the mean for 14 genotypes of L. angustifolius measured in the same years and sites, which was 30.0 mg/cm 2 (Mera et al. 2004).…”
