Genotoxicity and Environmental Implications of Crude Oil-related Pollutants in Nigeria

Abstract: This paper reviews the mechanistic and genetic effects of spilt crude oil and associated drill site chemicals on some Nigerian plants. Methods that range from morphological and physical observations, physico-chemical, anatomical, cuticular to cytological and cytogenetic analyses were reviewed. Quality data on various negative consequences of exposure of plants to pollution and contamination by crude oil-related pollutants were x-rayed. Proper legislation, monitoring and enforcement of sound environmental Laws … Show more

“…The diversification of terrorist ideologies and the rise of decentralized 'lone wolf' attacks, often fueled by online propaganda, complicate the prediction and countering of threats [33,34,35]. The accessibility of technology has democratized terrorism, lowering barriers to entry, as individuals with internet access can initiate attacks [36,37]. Disinformation campaigns, utilizing new media technologies like deep fakes and AI-driven content, play a crucial role in terrorist recruitment and radicalization [38,39].…”

“…However, the transition is fraught with challenges, including the complexity of implementation and the potential for policy misconfiguration, leading to unintended access permissions or security vulnerabilities. The debate between the simplicity and manageability of RBAC versus the flexibility and complexity of ABAC and PBAC highlights a critical controversy in cybersecurity, staging the trade-off between security and usability [11,35]. While ABAC's granularity offers a more potent defense against sophisticated threats like ransomware, it demands a higher level of expertise to configure and manage effectively, raising concerns about its practicality for organizations with limited cybersecurity resources.…”
