Abstract:Speciation is the source of diversity on the planet, but the genomic mechanisms that lead to the reproductive isolating barriers between populations that cause speciation are not well understood. Here we are studying the genomic differentiation between two species of milkweed that grow in the Western (Asclepias speciosa) and Eastern United States (A. syrica). In addition to different geographic locations, these species have diverged in a number of important phenotypes, including: production of secondary metabo… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
