Genomic sequencing and analysis of Chilli ringspot virus, a novel potyvirus

Abstract: Chilli ringspot virus (ChiRSV), a novel potyvirus, was recently found in Hainan, China with high prevalence. The genomic sequence of the ChiRSV-HN/14 isolate was determined by sequencing overlapping cDNA segments generated by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction with degenerate and/or specific primers. ChiRSV genome (GenBank Acc. no. JN008909) comprised of 9,571 nucleotides (nt) excluding the 3'-terminal poly (A) tail and contained a large open reading frame of 9,240 nt encoding a large polyprotein … Show more

“…2). The putative PIPO ORF (99 aa) was also identified as the conservative motif GAA AAA A which was also found at nt 2896-2902 [15]. In addition, the NoMV CP has 274 aa residuals with a calculated molecular mass of 30.69 kDa.…”

“…Chilli ringspot virus (ChiRSV) was rst reported in Vietnam in 2007 [6] and was classi ed as a distinct species in the genus Potyvirus in 2009 [3]. In 2011, the determination of the genomic sequence of ChiRSV-HN/14 isolate (from Hainan, China) provided further evidence that ChiRSV is a distinctive potyvirus [5]. The ChiRSV genome has 9,571 nucleotides (nt) of ssRNA and the virus has typical lamentous particles 780 nm in length [5,8].…”
