Genome-Wide Identification of BES1 Gene Family in Six Cucurbitaceae Species and Its Expression Analysis in Cucurbita moschata

Abstract: The BES1 (BRI1-EMSSUPPRESSOR1) gene family play a vital role in the BR (brassinosteroid) signaling pathway, which is involved in the growth and development, biotic, abiotic, and hormone stress response in many plants. However, there are few reports of BES1 in Cucurbita moschata. In this study, 50 BES1 genes were identified in six Cucurbitaceae species by genome-wide analysis, which could be classified into 3 groups according to their gene structural features and motif compositions, and 13 CmoBES1 genes in Cucu… Show more

“…In this study, pumpkin plants were cultivated in Hoagland’s nutrient solution at a greenhouse under controlled conditions (28 °C, 16 h light/8 h dark, 70–80% humidity). Upon attaining the three-leaf stage, the seedlings underwent three treatments as described in [ 36 ]: ① leaves of hormone treatment groups (100 µM ABA, MeJA, and GA) for 0, 3, 6, and 9 h were collected separately for RNA extraction; ② leaves were exposed to drought (20% PEG6000, Solarbio, Beijing, China) for 6 h; and ③ leaves were exposed to salt (150 mM NaCl, Solarbio, Beijing, China) for 6 h to evaluate separately the responsiveness of CmoVOZ genes to abiotic stresses. Three biological replicates were set up for each sample.…”

“…Still, due to the absence of CCDL proteins, it is not an ideal candidate for investigating CCD enzymes and their functions. Fortunately, CCDL genes have been discovered in Citrullus lanatus and Cucumis melo, providing opportunities for further exploration (Xu et al, 2023). Carotenoids provide vibrant colors to fruits and vegetables, and their production and degradation are facilitated by CCD enzyme family (Kiokias et al, 2016).…”
