Genome-wide identification and expression profiling of two-component system (TCS) genes in Brassica oleracea in response to shade stress

Abstract: The Two-component system (TCS) consists of Histidine kinases (HKs), Phosphotransfers (HPs), and response regulator (RR) proteins. It has an important role in signal transduction to respond to a wide variety of abiotic stresses and hence in plant development. Brassica oleracea (cabbage) is a leafy vegetable, which is used for food and medicinal purposes. Although this system was identified in several plants, it had not been identified in Brassica oleracea yet. This genome-wide study identified 80 BoTCS genes co… Show more

“…The Ka/Ks ratio was used to demonstrate the selection pressure that aided in the evolution of the CNL gene family in P. edulis Sims. Duplication time was calculated based on the formula: T = Ks/2x (where x = 6.56 × 10 −9 for dicots) ( Zameer et al, 2022 ; Zia et al, 2022 ; Sadaqat et al, 2023 ).…”

“…Based on whether the Ka/Ks ratio was greater than, equal to, or less than one, purifying, neutral, or positive selection was inferred ( Zia et al, 2022 ). Additionally, the divergence time for the duplicated gene pairs was estimated using the formula “t = Ks/2λ×10 –6 ″ in million years (Mya), where the λ value is 1.5 × 10 −8 for dicots ( Fatima et al, 2023 ; Sadaqat et al, 2023 ).…”

“…If the ratio of Ka/Ks was greater than, equal to, or less than one, this indicated positive, neutral, and purifying selection, respectively ( Zia et al., 2022 ). Moreover, the time of divergence for these gene pairs was calculated using the formula “t = Ks/2λ×10 -6 ”, with λ value of 1.5× 10 −8 for dicots to calculate the duplication time in million years ( Zameer et al., 2022 ; Sadaqat et al., 2023 ).…”
