Genome-wide identification and characterization of grapevine UFD1 genes during berry development and salt stress response

Abstract: Grapevine (Vitis vinifera) is widely applicated in food industry, which shows high economical and nutritional values. However, growth of grapevine was usually affected by various environmental stresses, such as salt, drought and disease. Ubiquitin fusion degradation protein 1 (UFD1) is an essential ubiquitin-recognition protein facilitates regulation of stress response through ERAD pathway. Even though, a comprehensive investigation of UFD1 genes in the plant species is still lacking. Here we identified three … Show more

“…The active expression of these E3 ubiquitin ligases plays a crucial role in degrading damaged proteins and maintaining cellular stability. Furthermore, UFD1 in grapevine was shown to be involved in responses to salt stress, light treatment, and pathogen infection during grapevine growth [49]. CDC48 and its cofactor UFD1 were found to be essential for regulating proteins and responding to oxidative stress [50].…”

“…NLP4 family proteins, other protein interactor with SAP11, 12 and 13, is integral component of highly conserved chaperone complex (Ufd1- Npl4-p97) and plays an important role in Endoplasmic reticulum associated degradation (ERAD). During ERAD the abnormal or misfolded proteins accumulated during extreme environmental conditions are recognized by Ufd1- Npl4-p97 chaperone complex and delivered to proteosome complex for processing [ 35 ].…”
