Genome wide identification and characterization of fertility associated novel CircRNAs as ceRNA reveal their regulatory roles in sheep fecundity

Abstract: Reproductive traits play a vital role in determining the production efficiency of sheep. Maximizing the production is of paramount importance for breeders worldwide due to the growing population. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) act as miRNA sponges by absorbing miRNA activity through miRNA response elements (MREs) and participate in ceRNA regulatory networks (ceRNETs) to regulate mRNA expression. Despite of extensive research on role of circRNAs as miRNA sponges in various species, their specific regulatory roles and… Show more

“…Fatty acid metabolism is a complex process in which some key proteins play an important role. The high expression of PPAR signaling pathway-related proteins can lead to an increase in lipid metabolism, which is consistent with previous reports [ 29 ]. In addition, these results are consistent with the slow growth rate, high intramuscular fat deposition capacity, and better meat quality of Chinese indigenous pig breeds, such as WH pigs.…”

“…GCs are integral to the reproductive competence of sheep, serving as the nexus for oocyte maturation and ovarian fertility [ 13 ]. A wealth of knowledge emphasizes the important role of noncoding RNAs in sheep reproduction, with miRNAs emerging as key modulators of follicular development [ 14 , 15 ]. This study utilized high-throughput sequencing to analyse the gene expression landscape of GCs from Merino lambs treated with and without FSH to elucidate the molecular interplay between miRNAs and ferroptosis.…”
