Genome wide analysis of DWARF27 genes in soybean and functional characterization of GmD27c reveals eminent role of strigolactones in rhizobia interaction and nodulation in Glycine max

“…Moreover, the biosynthetic genes D27 , CCD7 , and CDD8 are specifically expressed in the vasculature of noninoculated roots, whereas upon perception of rhizobial lipochitooligosaccharides, expression is also found in the epidermis and in dividing cells of nodule primordia as well as in the meristem and the distal infection zones of mature nodules (van Zeijl, Liu, et al., 2015). Silencing of MtD27 in M. truncatula did not modify or only slightly increased the number of nodules (van Zeijl, Liu, et al., 2015), whereas the GmD27c knockdown in Glycine max (soybean) reduced it (Rehman et al., 2022) as well as the GmMAX3 knockdown while its overexpression enhanced the nodule number (Haq et al., 2017).
