Genome‐scale identification of miRNAmRNA and miRNA–lncRNA interactions in domestic animals

Abstract: Domestic animals show considerable genetic diversity. Previous studies suggested that animal phenotypes were affected by miRNA-mRNA interplay, but these studies focused mainly on the analysis of one or several miRNA-mRNA interactions. However, in this study, we investigated miRNA-mRNA and miRNA-lncRNA interactions on a genomic scale using miranda and targetscan algorithms. There has been strong directional artificial selection practiced during the domestication of animals. Thus, we investigated SNPs that were … Show more

“…Nevertheless, the expressions of the genes related to protein secretion were up‐regulated in the domestic silkworm (Fang et al ., ). A previous study on pigs indicated that lncRNAs might have taken part in the formation of the domestication trait (Zhou et al ., ; Li et al ., ). Thus, comparison of lncRNAs in the silk gland between the domestic and wild silkworms would provide some insights into the molecular mechanisms of silk yield improvement in the domestic silkworm.…”

“…Domestication accelerates the phenotypic variation between domestic organisms and their wild progenitors. Previous studies have shown that lncRNAs can also take part in this process (Zhou et al ., ; Li et al ., ). For example, linc‐sscg2561 may contribute to phenotypic variation in emotional behavior, including aggressive behavior and reduced fear of humans during domestication of the pig (Zhou et al ., ).…”

“…To elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms by which LINC00461 expedites BC cell migration and invasion, we applied miRanda algorithms (Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY) described previously 20 to predict the potential targets of LINC00461 ( Figure 4A). “…Accumulating evidence has revealed that lncRNAs act as miRNA sponges to participate the carcinogenesis and progression of a wide range of human neoplasms. To elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms by which LINC00461 expedites BC cell migration and invasion, we applied miRanda algorithms (Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY) described previously 20 to predict the potential targets of LINC00461 ( Figure 4A). MiR-30a-5p, frequently reported to be implicated in multiple types of human cancers, was selected as a target of LINC00461 in BC cells.…”
