Genome engineering allows selective conversions of terephthalaldehyde to multiple valorized products in bacterial cells

Abstract: Deconstruction of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic waste generates opportunities for valorization to alternative products. We recently designed an enzymatic cascade that could produce terephthalaldehyde (TPAL) from terephthalic acid.
