Tuberculosis in end‐stage renal disease patients on hemodialysis

Spontaneous Bladder Perforation: An Unusual Management Problem of Tuberculous Cystitis

“…The earliest form of bladder infection starts around one or other ureteric orifice, which becomes red, inflamed and oedamatous.3 Bladder exudates, single or multiple ulcerations and, if longstanding, fibrosis and contracture of the vesical wall may be appreciable on gross examination. 5 There is a paucity of literature on spontaneous perforation in tuberculous cystitis. Gow studied 11 17 cases of genito-urinary TB over 34 years; reconstructive bladder surgery was performed in 57 patients for symptoms of severe frequency, urgency, pain and occasional haematuria; none had spontaneous perforation.b Other large series of bladder augmentations also do not report spontaneous perforation as an indicati~n.…”
