Genetic Variation at Five STR Loci (D10S2325, D13S325, D20S470, D18S51, and D19S253) in Korean Population

Abstract: Allele and genotype frequencies of the five STR loci (D10S2325, D13S325, D20S470, D18S51, and D19S253) were determined. Specimens were collected from unrelated volunteer blood donors from a population of Chungnam Province in South Korea (n = 130). DNA was obtained from the blood specimens using the Wizard genomic DNA purification kit (Promega, USA) and amplified using the multiplex PCR (triplex amplification of D10S2325, D13S325, and D20S470; duplex amplification of D18S51 and D19S253). The amplified DNAs were… Show more

“…Frequencies of the alleles of D12S391 versus the German, Central Poland, Portugal populations indicated statistically significant differences (P < 0.0001). In contrast, the distribution pattern of alleles was very similar as in Spain [14] and Other Asian Korean populations, especially Koreans [12,13,15].…”

“…Comparison of the allele frequencies from the studied population with the European and other Asian populations for which the data were available showed the following: the distribution of the alleles of D7S1517, D2S1360 and D10S2325 was similar as in German [10] and Central Poland [11] populations (P-values ranging from 0.115 to 0.708). No statistically significant differences in frequencies of the alleles of D10S2325, D16S3253, D18S1270, D19S253 and D20S470 versus two Korean populations [12,13] were observed.…”
