Genetic variants of the cytochrome P450 and glutathione S‐transferase associated with risk of bladder cancer in a south‐eastern Chinese population

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the association between genetic polymorphisms of CYP2E1 RsaI and GSTM1 and development of bladder cancer in a south-eastern Han Chinese population. Methods: We hypothesized that the CYP2E1-1019T>A and GSTM1 polymorphisms were associated with risk of bladder cancer. In a hospitalbased case-control study of 202 case patients with newly diagnosed bladder transitional cell carcinoma and 272 cancer-free controls frequencymatched by the age and sex, we genotyped these two polymorphisms using a… Show more

“…For the GSTM1 genotyping, the methods were described in our previous study. 20 Further, rs17674580, from the SLC14A1 gene, was selected for genotyping, because other three SNPs rs7238033, rs10775480 and rs10853535 were in linkage disequilibrium with it (r 2 5 1 for each other). For quality control, the genotyping was performed by two people blinded without knowledge of subject's status.…”

“…In total, 6 publications including 1, 510 cases and 1, 560 controls met the inclusion criteria (Brockmoller et al, 1996;Choi et al, 2003;Mittal et al, 2005;Shao et al, 2008;Cantor et al, 2010;Basma et al, 2013). The characteristics of the studies included in this meta-analysis are summarized in Table1.…”

“…The characteristics of the studies included in this meta-analysis are summarized in Table1. Among the 6 studies, there were 3 studies of Asians (Choi et al, 2003;Mittal et al, 2005;Shao et al, 2008), and 3 studies of Caucasians (Brockmoller et al, 1996;Cantor et al, 2010;Basma et al, 2013). The sample size varied considerably among the studies, ranging from 100 (Mittal et al, 2005) to 1238 (Cantor et al, 2010).…”
