Genetic variant in the 5ʹ untranslated region of endothelin1 (EDN1) gene in children with primary nephrotic syndrome

Abstract: Endothelin-1 plays a crucial role in the pathophysiology of nephrotic syndrome (NS) in children. The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the contribution of the EDN1 (3A/4A; rs1800997) variant to the risk of nephrotic syndrome. This study involves 200 participants (100 healthy controls, 50 steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndromes [SSNS] patients, and 50 steroid-resistant nephrotic syndromes [SRNS]

“…The detection of the degree of normal distribution was assessed by applying the Shapiro–Wilk test. Continuous data were assessed using the Wilcoxon rank-sum test, while categorical findings were evaluated using Fisher’s exact test and odds ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval [ 38 , 39 ]. The Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium for the XPO5 ( rs34324334 ; c.722G>A ) and RAN ( rs14035 ; c.*770C>T ) variants was executed to identify the level of equilibrium among observed and expected values of HCC patients and cancer-free subjects [ 40 ].…”
