“…The PIC values found in this study exceeded those (0.29-080) of Cameroon’s IC [21], and (0.31-0.49) of Chinese IC [21,22], but lower than those obtained by Tang for black-bone IC breeds (0.67) [24]. The mean frequency of alleles per marker found in this study (10.89) exceeded those recorded in previous reports in Cameroon (9.04) [21], in Ghana (7.8) [25], in Iran (5.4) [26], in China (3.8) [27], in Egypt (7.3) [28], in Pakistan (9.1) [29] and in Vietnam (6.41) [30]. The values obtained in this study were, however, lower than those from Brazilian (13.3) [31] and in the same range as from Ethiopian chicken ecotypes (10.6) [32].…”

“…In recent decades, breeding programs has an important effect on the genetic composition of commercial chickens (JASOURI et al, 2012). Furthermore, as rearing of native chicken is reasonable in some rural areas (MOHAMMADABADI et al, 2010), breeding them becomes important in small farms to earn more income as well as the importance of conserving the genetic variation of native breeds (EMAMGHOLIBEGLI et al, 2010). Rearing of the domestic fowl in Iran and its dissemination throughout this country has an old history.…”

“…Short tandem repeats known as microsatellites are widely used as molecular markers of choice for genetic studies. Advantages of microsatellites are a high degree of polymorphism due to existence of several alleles at each locus, their large number, distribution throughout the genome, a high level of polymorphism, neutrality with respect to selection, codominant inheritance and easy automation of analytical procedures (Canon et al, 2006;Mohammadifar et al, 2009;Mohammadabadi et al, 2010). Several studies have investigated the genetic diversity in sheep using microsatellites (Buchanan and Thue, 1998;Esmaeilkhanian and Banabazi, 2006;Bhatia and Arora, 2007;Nanekarani et al, 2010;Sun et al, 2010;Jakaria et al, 2012;Musthafa Muneeb et al, 2012;Hepsibha et al, 2013;Crispim et al, 2014), but a study of all Iranian sheep together has not been performed until now.…”
