Genetic variability and diversity studies in Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. var. durum) genotypes based on cluster analysis using agronomic and quality traits in Southern Ethiopia

Abstract: Genetic diversity is worthwhile for durum wheat breeding and consequently results in production of more efficient varieties under different conditions. Cluster analysis based on Euclidean distances was carried out with 21 durum wheat genotypes to assess the genetic diversity for agronomic and quality traits. The Unweighted Pair Group Average using Arithmetic Mean as linkage rule was used for the analysis of the distances between clusters. The genotypes were evaluated for 23 agronomic and quality traits and exp… Show more

“…Genotypes showed variation for days to heading ranging from 59 to 64.08 days with a mean of 61.19 days, and days to maturity ranging from 99 to 104.33 days with a mean of 100.81 days. Dejene et al (2016), Yonas et al (2016), and Rathwa et al (2018) also reported variation among durum wheat genotypes for days to heading and days to maturity.…”
