The integration of metallic oxide and metal−organic frameworks has attracted considerable attention as obtained composite materials because they show synergistic effects in applications of catalysis and sensing. Herein, we developed the hybrid MgO and HKUST-1 for efficient capture, catalysis, and cyclic cataluminescence (CCTL) detection of esters all-in-one to rapidly identify scented products. The multifunctional MgO/HKUST-1 composite with high CCTL activity was synthesized and characterized. The multifunctional MgO/HKUST-1 composite acts as an enrichment material for ester capture and serves as a catalyst, assisting the analyte to trigger multistage signals. The multistage signals of ester-containing scented products also satisfy the exponential decay equation with a certain τ-value. The τ-values obtained by the CCTL system were applied to identify the brands of essential oils. The working temperature served as the sensor element to obtain various τ-values. The τ-values constituted a digital code to label the different brands of cigarettes with the same aroma type. The multistage signals could be used to distinguish the origin regions of essential oils and tobacco. This work combines the CCTL strategy with the sample pretreatment, opening up a new direction to develop CCL and providing a new platform to rapidly identify ester-containing scented products.

Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) has caused considerable losses in the global production of grain crops such as wheat, barley and maize. We investigated the phylodynamics of the virus by analysing 379 and 485 nucleotide sequences of the genes encoding the coat protein and movement protein, respectively. The maximum clade credibility tree indicated that BYDV-GAV and BYDV-MAV, BYDV-PAV and BYDV-PAS share the same evolutionary lineage, respectively. The diversification of BYDV arises from its adaptability to vector insects and geography. Bayesian phylogenetic analyses showed that the mean substitution rates of the coat and movement proteins of BYDV ranged from 8.327 × 10− 4 (4.700 × 10− 4–1.228 × 10− 3) and 8.671 × 10− 4 (6.143 × 10− 4–1.130 × 10− 3) substitutions/site/year, respectively. The time since the most recent common BYDV ancestor was 1434 (1040–1766) CE (Common Era). The Bayesian skyline plot (BSP) showed that the BYDV population experienced dramatic expansions approximately 8 years into the 21st century, followed by a dramatic decline in less than 15 years. Our phylogeographic analysis showed that the BYDV population originating in the United States was subsequently introduced to Europe, South America, Australia and Asia. The migration pathways of BYDV suggest that the global spread of BYDV is associated with human activities.

El tabaco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) es un cultivo industrial de importancia económica y una planta modelo importante, cultivada ampliamente en muchos países. Su producción, rendimiento y calidad se han visto gravemente afectados por una serie de factores entre las que destacan las infecciones virales. Hasta el momento se han reportado más de 60 virus pertenecientes a 20 géneros que infectan y provocan pérdidas sustanciales de rendimiento en tabaco. Los genomas de estos fitopatógenos pueden ser de ADN o ARN, distribuyéndose en varias partículas virales (monopartito, bipartito o tripartito). En su gran mayoría, las infecciones virales en tabaco son ocasionadas por virus de ARN monocatenarios de sentido positivo (ARN +) como los pertenecientes al género Tobamovirus y Cucumovirus. No obstante, los Begomovirus (virus de ADN) también impactan económicamente el cultivo de tabaco. Esta revisión enlista los principales virus de ADN y ARN que infectan plantas de tabaco, así como sus vectores más relevantes. Además, se abordan las técnicas de detección y diagnóstico que se han desarrollado continuamente para identificar correctamente las enfermedades virales asociadas al cultivo de tabaco.
