“…However, rice borer resistance evaluation remains stagnant and no definite resistance line/variety has been identified to date. Fortunately, rice resistance to RGM has achieved some progress recently, and the resistance evaluation method should be taken into account [ 9 , 13 , 17 , 18 ]. In the present study, 60 lines/varieties, including one or two control lines, infested with 36 female RGM could be treated in one tray as described by method 4–3 (Fig.…”

“…Based on the sequence polymorphism, ‘ gm3del3 ’ was cloned and efficiently utilized as a functional marker for introgressing gm3 gene in the elite bacterial blight resistant cultivar Improved Samba Mahsuri (B95-1), via marker-assisted selection (MAS) approach. Leelagud et al ( 2020 ) mapped gm12 on chromosome 2 in the F 2:3 population derived from the cross of KDML105 and MN62M, wherein SNP markers (S2_76222 and S2_419160) were found to flank gm12 . This gene can be extensively used for the identification of RGM biotypes in Thailand and Southeast Asia.…”

“…Various allelism tests have been conducted with the help of flanking simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers to find out the best combination of novel resistance genes against rice GM (Himabindu et al, 2007). Among all the 12 resistant genes reported so far, 10 genes, namely Gm1, Gm2, Gm3, Gm4, Gm5, Gm6, Gm7, Gm8, Gm11 and Gm12 were tagged and mapped successfully till now in various rice genetic resources (Bentur et al, 2016; Leelagud et al, 2020). The markers tagged with these resistance genes have scope for screening new rice genetic resources and finding combinations of resistance genes in the same genetic background, resulting in a high level of resistance expression.…”
