“…On the other hand, estimations of heritability on phenotypes that are relevant from a public health perspective, but have received less attention in the genetic literature (e.g., breastfeeding initiation and duration, adherence to health recommendations, psychoactive medication use, or health related quality of life), have been reported preliminarily at different conferences (Ordoñana et al, 2010a(Ordoñana et al, , 2010b(Ordoñana et al, , 2011, or are under review for publication. Additionally, the MTR dataset has also been used to analyze the effect of environmental variables on relevant phenotypes such as breastfeeding duration (Colodro-Conde et al, 2011) or for forensic population genetics studies (Illescas et al, 2012a).…”

“…Within a paternity investigation, the child's mother being presumed as being certain, the child's DNA profile presents a lot of alleles that are found in the presumptive father profile besides the maternal alleles; we can speak about a confirmation of paternity that is always expressed in probability terms. In cases where the biological parents do not exist anymore, a sibling or cousin is recommended to participate in the DNA identification process [5][6][7]. In DNA human identification, body fluids such as saliva, blood, semen, and urine represent important components.…”

“…Currently, numerous worldwide populations have been typed by different X-STR multiplexes, being the decaplex developed by the GHEP-ISFG [5,6] and the Investigator TM Argus X-12 Kit (Qiagen GmbH, Hilden, Germany) two of the most generally used panels. Up to now, X-STR allele frequencies have been studied in different populations of Spain with the decaplex of the GHEP-ISFG (Murcia [7,8], autochthonous Basques from Navarre [9], Galicia [6], Cantabria [6], and north-east of Spain [10]) and with the Investigator TM Argus X-12 Kit (Zamora [11], Valencia [12], and Balearic Islands [12]). Actually, a unique Iberian allele frequency database for the markers of the decaplex of the GHEP-ISFG is available [1].…”
