Abstract:Background: Populus wutunensis is widely cultivated as part of the Three-North Shelter Forest Program in China. This hybrid grows rapidly and is tolerant to salinity and drought; however, the molecular mechanisms behind the drought resistance of P. wutunensis remain unclear.
